The Nuriootpa and Angaston Tennis Clubs are working together to deliver a Fastennis Tournament this summer in the Barossa. Open to Juniors and Seniors playing singles and doubles in teams of two, each match is played as a 32 point set, with each player serving 4 consecutive points and changing ends after 16 points (sudden death point at 16 all).
Round 1 of the Monday Pairs competition is on October 26 for the Monday pairs so get your team nomination in now, ask us to find you a team or register as a fill-in.
For those looking for a bit slower pace, don’t forget Wednesday night social beginning October 28.
To celebrate the start of the summer season the Gawler & District Tennis Association is hosting a launch this Saturday night, October 19, with a Bar-B-Q and salads at the Association Courts on Victoria Terrace. Canteen and Bar facilities will be open and there will be a free bouncy castle for the kids starting at 4pm. Current and past junior and senior members of clubs affiliated with the Association are invited as well as all current social members. New players to the region are welcome to come along to meet existing players and our association coach Sam Murch, plus try out our recently resurfaced courts which look fantastic in the Australian Open blue. SportsPower Gawler and new ball sponsor Wilson will have the new season of Wilson racquets available to try.
Monday night tennis begins tonight with a hit for all rusty racquets to get out the cob webs, with competition beginning next Monday. Junior Pennant starts on October 18, with other junior competitions and the new Hot Shots Green Ball League beginning on the Saturday morning on October 19. Senior pennant begins in the afternoon of October 19. Competition for new players moves to Saturday mornings, with an Orange Ball League beginning October 26. Tennis Australia’s Hot Shots coaching program begins next week, with group coaching for new juniors available Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays. Social tennis gets underway the same week, with recreational players playing from 7pm on Wednesday nights.
